Recipients of the 2006 Beersheba Preservation Awards , sponsored by the Historical Society of Ocean Grove, have been announced by Ray Russomano, President. We all inherit the rewards of those individuals, homeowners, and businesses that have revitalized, restored or preserved their properties for our unique, historical community. Civic Awards are given to individuals or groups for their contributions to the preservation of our architectural, cultural or natural resources of Ocean Grove. Randy Bishop will be given a civic award for his years of leadership to help improve Ocean Grove. The Historic Preservation Commission will be given a Group Award for their contributions in implementing and preserving the wealth of Victorian architecture. A Special Recognition Award will be given to Freeholder Ted Narozanick for all his outstanding years of service to the Ocean Grove community and Monmouth County . A Centennial Award will go to 24 Central Avenue House that has been passed down through the generations from woman to woman and is owned by Jennifer Sirois. The award represents families in Ocean Grove who have meticulously preserved their home for multiple generations. A Non-Profit Award will go to The Emmaus House on 21 Main Avenue for their reclamation and restoration efforts. The following Homeowner Awards were given. The winning houses are: 8 Abbott Avenue, 15 Atlantic Ave., 11 Embury Ave., 62 Heck Ave., 91 Mt. Tabor Way, 6 Ocean Avenue, 9 Pilgrim Pathway. Streetscape Awards are provided to a block or series of houses for their overall appearance and upkeep. This series of 100 year old cottages are 40-42-44-46-48-50-52 Surf Avenue . A banquet to honor the recipients will be held Monday, June 26 at 6:00 PM at The Starving Artist Restaurant.
