While Ocean Grove was founded as a Camp Meeting, its popularity grew as a coastal resort community. Vacationers chose the community because of its healthy pine scented air and cool ocean breezes as a place to escape the summer heat of the big cities. Many of the post cards depicting life in Ocean Grove reflect the resort atmosphere with bathing and ocean scenes as well as recreational ones.
