During the late Victorian Era, with the advent of inexpensive photography, it was not only popular to send post cards of local scenes where vacationers stayed, but also to send post cards of themselves. For a nominal fee one could go to a photographers and pose for a portrait and have post cards made. Ocean Grove was not without its share of photographic studios.
